Read More	MUSCATINE, Iowa - Donald H. Paul, 76, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at UnityPoint Hospital - Muscatine. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Cindy Axtell will officiate. Burial will take place in Krell Cemetery. Donald was born on May 31, 1940, in Muscatine, the son of Arthur and Mable Chapman Paul. His education began at the one-room Mount Grove Elementary School in Sweetland Township and continued through Muscatine High School from which he graduated in the Class of 1959. After graduation he worked at the J. I. Case Company in Bettendorf as an inventory clerk until 1961 when he began working for the H.J. Heinz Company in Muscatine as a night shift shipping clerk. During this time he also attended the Muscatine Junior College and graduated in 1964. Don met Lynne James while attending Junior College and they were united in marriage on August 22, 1965, at the Muscatine Musserville United Methodist Church. Their son, David, was born in 1973. In 1966, Don graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in accounting and returned to the Heinz Company in Muscatine to begin his career as a cost accountant. Subsequent work experience was a Thatcher Plastic from 1969-1971, Wolverine World Wide from 1972-1978, and Bandag, Incorporated from 1978 until his retirement in 1999. His hobbies have included model railroading, gardening, and automotive history. He was a Master Gardener and an initial member of the Society of Automotive Historians. His extensive research on local automotive history resulted in the publication of several articles and a book on the Root and Van Dervoort Company of East Moline, Illinois. He was elected to the Muscatine County Extension Council and served as its treasurer for eight years. Don wanted to thank his friends and acquaintances and especially his wonderful wife and great son who have made his life so enjoyable and interesting. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lynne Paul of Muscatine; his son, David Paul and fiancé, Jolene Stout of Cedar Rapids; and one sister, Nancy Pagel of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents.
