He was the beloved husband of the late Janice E. (Irving) Alexander who died on November 13, 2005. Born in Columbus, Ohio on March 3, 1937, Donald was a son of the late George W. and Hazel K. (Halbert) Alexander. He was raided in Shawnee Hills, Ohio and was a graduate of Dublin High School in Dublin, Ohio and Bryant College in North Smithfield, RI. A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Alexander enlisted in the United States Navy on September 16, 1954 and was honorable discharged on March 2, 1959. Mr. Alexander was a traffic manager at St. Regis Paper Company, which later became Fortifiber, Inc. in Attleboro for forty-two years, retiring in 2002. A member of the Moose Club and the American Legion, both in Attleboro, Donald enjoyed golfing, traveling and football. A resident of Attleboro since 1957, Donald moved home to Ohio to be with his family several months after the passing of his beloved wife, Janice. Mr. Alexander is survived by two brothers: Robert Alexander and Charles Alexander, both of Mt. Vernon, OH; four sisters: Cleo Weinstock of Powell, OH, Betty Smart of Marysville, OH, and Sandra Hudson and Tonda Drakulich, both of Columbus, OH; and many nieces and nephews. He was the beloved father of the late Michael S. Alexander who died on March 12, 1999 and brother of the late Barbara VanGundy, George, James and Carl Alexander. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 from 5 PM – 8 PM in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro. A funeral will be conducted on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 9 AM from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 208 South Main Street, Attleboro celebrated by the Rev. Michael Carvill, Pastor. Donald will be laid to rest with full military honors beside his late wife, Janice, and son, Michael, in North Purchase Cemetery, North Main Street, Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to: The American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons Street, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
