He was born April 3, 1938, in Waterville, WA. He grew up and attended Waterville schools. Upon graduation, he joined the Army and became a baker in Germany, while stationed there. This talent made him a favorite among family and friends. He married Laura on November 7, 1959, and they made their home 20 miles north of Waterville, with their two children, Debby and Arlene. Don was a wheat rancher for many years. The family moved from the ranch to Waterville in 1976. He became active in the community as a member of the Grange, Wranglers, Lions, Masons, Shriners, Eagles and the V.F.W. He was a man of many talents, from boat mechanic, paving crewman, backflow tester, state highway worker, builder, wine maker, woodworker, baker and canner, to Santa and leaded glass artist. He could moo like a cow, sound like Donald Duck, whistle loud enough to call the kids home from the playground, and crack an egg with one hand. He loved a good joke, and bad ones on occasion. He especially loved fishing, but always had time for his children and grandchildren (Laurel and Audra McDaniel and Elyse and Claire Anderson). We all love you and miss you very much Don/Papa/Goofy, but are glad you have no more pain. You will be missed by many. Have fun catching all those fish in Heaven.A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 9, 2009, at the Waterville Federated Church. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Waterville Ambulance Fund or the Waterville Swimming Pool. Arrangements are by the Waterville Funeral Home.
