Funeral services will be Monday, September 15, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Swede Home with Pastor Donna Durette officiating. A private family inurnment will be at a later date. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola is in charge of arrangements. Jim was born April 24, 1931 to Eugene Edmond and Mabel Florinda (Anderson) Westring at Genoa. He attended school in Genoa and graduated from Genoa High School in 1948. He helped operate a family bulk milk route delivering to Roberts Dairy in Omaha. On November 10, 1950 he was united in marriage to Elaine Kathleen Nansel in Genoa, Nebraska. To this union three children were born. The family resided in Stromsburg where Jim was vice president of Overland Sand & Gravel for several years. They then moved to Geneva where Jim managed the insurance agency for Geneva State Bank. Jim and Elaine then moved back to Stromsburg and operated the Christian Book & Variety store in Stromsburg until 2007 when they sold the business. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Swede Home, Stromsburg Masonic Lodge #126, Pawnee Motorcor, Commercial Club, and had been a member of a pilots club. Jim loved to read. He also enjoyed family snow skiing trips, spending time at their cabin on the lake and water skiing, gardening, History channel, being with his children and grandchildren and attending all their activities. He was proud of his Swedish heritage and that his grandfather and grandmother immigrated from Jorvso, Sweden to the United States. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Mabel Westring; three brothers, Willard "Woody", Wayne and Bob Westring; and one sister Joan Westring. Note his grandparents are buried in this cemetery: Henry T. & Hanna Westring.
