Donald John Hannesson was born on May 25, 1942 in Langdon to John and Mae Hannesson. He graduated elementary and high school in Langdon, graduating in 1961. Donald John Hannesson was born on May 25, 1942 in Langdon to John and Mae Hannesson. He graduated elementary and high school in Langdon, graduating in 1961. Following graduation he attended Wahpeton State School of Science for sheet metal and air conditioning and graduated in 1964. His various places of employment included the Langdon/Concrete minute man missile sites, Montgomery Ward in Bismarck, commercial fishing in Anchorage, Ala., Fischer Flour, the ship yards and the Boeing test department in Seattle, Wash., Emblem Construction in Longville, Minn., Peterson Sheet Metal in Fargo, A.T. Klemens Sheet Metal in Great Falls, Mont., and McFarlane Sheet Metal in Grand Forks. He went into partnership with his father and operated Hannesson Plumbing and Heating in Langdon. He had a very strong interest in aviation. During his time in Seattle, he attended night classes at Renton Aviation. He continued his flight training with Robertson Flying Service in Langdon and received his pilot’s license in 1968. His other interests included hunting, trap shooting and hockey. He is survived by one daughter, Kristen (Joel) Peterson of Grand Forks, one son, Eric Hannesson of Grand Forks, grandsons Eric and Liam, and one sister, Virginia (Ken) Grady of Great Falls, Mont.
