Description	:	Donald J. Hickman, Sr. of Dover died Friday January 22, 2010 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 83. Mr. Hickman was born June 22, 1926 in Bayard, Delaware to the late Ollie Hickman and Mattie Bishop. He retired after 25 years with DelDot where he worked as a Procurement Specialist. Mr. Hickman was at one time a member of the Roxanna Fire Company and once the Mayor of Fenwick Island. He was an auctioneer for Hickman's Auction Service. Hickman, Sr. of Dover died Friday January 22, 2010 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 83. Mr. Hickman was born June 22, 1926 in Bayard, Delaware to the late Ollie Hickman and Mattie Bishop. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ollie Hickman, Jr., William Kelly, and Elisha Hickman; one sister Maud Murray, and his granddaughter, Renee Timmons Smith. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Irene Biddle Hickman of Dover; three children, Brenda H. Delong and her husband Robert of Milford, Donald J. Hickman, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Georgetown and Kristi Hamilton and her husband Daniel of Magnolia; two brothers, Jack Hickman of Bethany Beach and Delmus Hickman of Ocean View; two sisters, Violet Rickards of Frankford and Janis Burbage of Smith Island; six grandchildren, Brian Timmons, Karen Vautard, Lisa Reynolds, Donald Hickman, III, Jason Hickman, and Riley Hamilton; seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1PM Wednesday January 27, 2010 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 11-1. Interment will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or the Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
