WAGNER May 18, 1924 ~ October 14, 2012 Donald John Wagner of Vancouver, WA, 88, passed away after a brief illness on Sun., Oct. 14, 2012. He was born in Marion, SD on May 18, 1924. Don joined the U.S. Army after high school and was a combat veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. After the Korean War he was stationed with his family in Taiwan, Japan, and Italy. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1966 and made his home in Vancouver. After retiring, he worked for Rainbird Irrigation and subsequently had his own business. Don was very active in the Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion, and the 40et8. Until his health prevented it, he volunteered at the Vancouver VA Medical Center. He was an avid golfer since he was a teenager. Don is survived by his three children, Donald Wagner, Jr. of Temple City, CA, Deborah Stear of Eugene, OR, and David Wagner of Tustin, CA; five grandchildren; and his brother, Kenneth Wagner of Corsica, CA. He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Peterson of Minneapolis, MN. Services will be held on Mon., Oct. 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 6600 Highland, Drive, Vancouver, WA.
