Merrick Manor in Fremont. Donald was born Oct. 31, 1923 at Norfolk, NE to William and Freda(Hans)Faubel. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from Jan. 12, 1944 to May 3, 1946 and served in the European African and Middle Eastern Theatre, the Asiatic Pacific and the Philippines. He also served during the Korean War from Sept. 23, 1950 to July 26, 1951 and served in Korea. After his discharge, he moved to Fremont and drove truck for Gambles, delivering to Gambles Stores for 27 years. He retired in 1985. Donald married Evelyn B. Prince on Aug. 13, 1946 at Norfolk, NE. She died March 31, 1987. Donald then married Virginia (Konsel) Begley on January 23, 1989 at Boulder City, Nevada. Donald was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #854 of Fremont and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #200 of Fremont. He was a former member of the American Legion Post. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Terry Faubel of Fremont; daughters, Sheryl Faubel of Omaha and Connie & husband, Carl Waltman of Omaha; step-daughter, Bridget Disney of Omaha; step daughter-in-law, Donna Begley of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers, Duane & wife, Betty Faubel of Lincoln, NE and Bob Faubel of Orange County, CA; 2 grandchildren, Tim Faubel of Omaha and Lisa Faubel of Fremont; step grandchild, Jennifer & husband, Todd Churchill of Omaha; and step great grandson, Trent Churchill. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife; son, Rickie Faubel; step-son, Kevin Begley; and brother, William Faubel. Funeral service, 10:30 AM, Wednesday, Sept. 7th at Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont, NE. The Rev Scott Jensen will officiate. Visitation Tuesday 4 PM to 8 PM and Wed. 9 AM to 10:30 AM; with the family receiving friends on Tuesday from 5 PM to 7 PM all at Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont. Burial at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont with military honors conducted by members of the Fremont Honor Guard of V.F.W. Post #854 and American Legion Post #20.
