Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, November 27, 2004 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Pam Ciulla will officiate. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Sorensen, the son of Albert and Christine (Petersen) Sorensen was born in Lindsey, Nebraska on September 29, 1920 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on November 23, 2004, at the age of 84. He was baptized and confirmed in the St. Ansgar Lutheran Church at Rosenborg near Lindsey. He graduated from St. Edward High School in 1939. He farmed until 1952 and then worked in the Gamble Store in Schuyler until 1955. On May 1, 1955, Donald was united in marriage to Dorene Andersen at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kronborg. From 1955 to 1965 he owned and operated the Gambles Hardware business on the south side of the square in Aurora. He was then appointed Hamilton County Treasurer and served in this position for 22 years. He retired February 1, 1987. Donald was a member of the Nebraska County Officials Association, serving as president in 1975. Golfing was a favorite pastime and he was an avid baseball fan. Donald was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg. He was preceded in death by his parents. Donald is survived by his wife, Dorene of Aurora; his daughter Gloria and her husband Jerry Carlson and granddaughter Alena, all of Aurora; a granddaughter, Shauna Carlson of Kearney; a sister, Alta and her husband Harlan Stone of Lindsey; a brother, Eldon Sorensen of Genoa; two nieces: Gaye and her husband Mike Garder of Petersburg and Darlene Stone of Lindsey; a nephew Kenneth Stone and his wife Joan of Lindsey; other relatives and many friends.
