Read More	Fouts Funeral Home - Dunlap, Iowa Donald Lambert Davie August 23, 1930 - May 12, 2019 MEMORIAL SERVICE Thursday, May 16, 2019 10:30 AM Methodist Church 701 Eaton Street Dunlap, IA 51529 Donald Lambert “Dover” Davie was born on August 23, 1930, to Paul and Claribel (Lambert) Davie in Dunlap, Iowa. He graduated from Dunlap Public School in 1948. In school, he played basketball and football and continued to enjoy watching sports throughout his life. In 1951, he married Jane Smith. He worked at the United States Post Office until he was drafted into the army. After basic training, he was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas as a mail clerk. He was an Atomic War Veteran having been sent to Nevada in 1953, where he witnessed an atomic bomb explode. Returning to civilian life, he farmed, cut trees, ran a tank wagon, operated a gas station, drove a cream truck in Logan, worked as a custodian at the Dunlap School, and drove a school bus for more than 20 years. He especially loved the young children. Dover loved music, cards, and fishing. For many years he was a volunteer on the Dunlap Fire and Rescue. He was a member of the Dunlap American Legion, Historical Society and the United Methodist Church in Dunlap. Donald died at home in Dunlap on May 12, 2019, attaining the age of 88 years, eight months and 19 days. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John Donald and Mitchell Jay; sister, Lois Anderson; brothers, Frank and Jim, and infant brothers, Paul and John Davie. He is survived by his wife, Jane Davie of Dunlap; three children, Maria Davie of Humboldt, South Dakota, Laurie and her husband Larry Klein of Dunlap, Iowa and Matthew Davie and his wife Dawn of Logan, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Davie of Denison, Iowa; sister, Myra and her husband Clifford Gene Peterson of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends. Dover enjoyed the visits of his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
