Description	:	HUSON - Donald Abbey went to his rest due to kidney cancer Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at his home in Huson. He was 74. Don was born in Salmon, Idaho Oct. 5, 1932. He was the fourth of five children born to Fred and Georgia (Fry) Abbey. When he was 8 years old, the family moved to University Heights west of Darby. Don was born in Salmon, Idaho Oct. 5, 1932. He was the fourth of five children born to Fred and Georgia (Fry) Abbey. When he was 8 years old, the family moved to University Heights west of Darby. They lived in the house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, where the family farmed and raised sheep. Don attended Darby Schools through the 11th grade, where he excelled in football and boxing. Don volunteered for the Army in 1952. He spent time in Fort Lewis, Wash., Camp Roberts, Calif., and Fort Bragg, N.C. He enlisted in the 82nd Airborne Division. He began jump school in Fort Bening, Ga. He was sent to Korea. His discharge was in 1956. He Military Infantry Braid and shooting medals. Don was known as a hard worker. He applied this ethic to many lines of labor: At the Butte packing plant, as a hunting packer and guide for Gerald Richie, and as a miner at the fluorspar mine out of Darby. His main profession was that of a logger. In the winter of 1958, he met Irene Jones. They were married on the Marcus Daly Estate in Hamilton in 1959. The couple lived in Darby, Victor, Alberton and St. Ignatius before moving to Huson in 2005. Survivors include his wife, Irene, of 48 years, his sister, Donna Kyle(Bill), brother Lloyd "Pudge" (Laura) of Mont., numerous nieces and nephews; his children Carla (Karl) Reinagel, Mo., Roseanne Abbey, Wash., Arden Abbey, Ore., Ben (Christy) Abbey, Montana, Loni (Tony) Styer, Tenn., and Al (Merri) Abbey, Montana. Source- Ravalli Republic, March 2, 2007 A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Frenchtown Community Church, 16250 Mullan Road, followed by a potluck reception. The graveside service will be held Sunday, March 4 at 2 p.m. at Lonepine Cemetery in Darby, followed by a potluck reception at the Charlos Heights Community Church.
