Description	:	Donald L. Anderson, 79, Lisbon, died Saturday, January 29, 2011 in his home. Donald LeRoy Anderson was born April 12, 1931 in Cozad, Nebraska to Carl and Clarabelle (Allen) Anderson. He attended rural school in Cozad. Don joined the US Army on May 8, 1953 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on May 5, 1955 during the Korean war. Anderson, 79, Lisbon, died Saturday, January 29, 2011 in his home. Donald LeRoy Anderson was born April 12, 1931 in Cozad, Nebraska to Carl and Clarabelle (Allen) Anderson. He attended rural school in Cozad. Don joined the US Army on May 8, 1953 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on May 5, 1955 during the Korean war. After serving in the Army, Don worked different jobs in Kentucky and South Dakota before moving to North Dakota. While in North Dakota he worked in Valley City where he met and married Lavona Neil on January 11, 1963. They moved to Fremont, Nebraska for a short time before moving back to North Dakota. They lived in the Crete/Gwinner area from 1968-1974, when they moved to Lisbon, ND where they made their permanent home. Lavona passed away on January 27, 1994. Don worked as a truck driver for most of his life. He worked for Melroe/Clark Equipment from the late 1960's until his retirement in 1992. While working there Don earned 2 Million Mile awards. He was a life long member of the Lisbon Eagles. Don enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, tinkering in his garage and wood working. He loved spending time with his family, playing card games and listening to country music. It was not uncommon for him to be found at his favorite watering hole, throwing back a cold Budweiser, smoking his Pall Mall's and socializing with his friends. He is survived by his wife, Doris, two beloved companions Red and Cindy, his sons, Steve (Deborah) Anderson, Anchorage, AK; Don Anderson Jr, Terry Anderson, Billy Anderson, Larry Pederson, Joe (Darla) Anderson, Lisbon, ND; Diana Anderson, Cedar Rapids, IA; Sheila Wright; Barbara Anderson, Bobbie (Brian) Engquist, Fargo, ND; Becky (Herb) Kiser, Valley City, ND; LaDonna Anderson, Fort Ransom, ND; 24 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lavona and a son, Rick. Pallbearers for the funeral were Danielle Holmstrom, Mitch Ludwig, Steph Holmstrom, Jeremy Engquist, Joshua Engquist, and Jessica Engquist. Soloist music was provided by Sylvia Holmstrom. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
