Donald "Buck" LeRoy Schnuelle, the son of Fritz and Irene (Dahlstrom) Schnuelle, was born July 24, 1941, on a farm north of Postville, Iowa in Allamakee County. He passed away Saturday morning, September 21, 2002, in Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He had reached the age of 61 years, one month, and 27 days. He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia. Don attended the Castalia Schools. On November 29, 1958 he was married to Karen Kay Klepper in the Zion Lutheran Church. To this union 5 children were born. Don has lived in Castalia all of his life. He drove a milk truck for many years and then a Redi-Mix truck. He also operated "Buck's Joint", a bar, in Castalia. For the last several years he transported bulk milk for Schneider Motor Ways. After Don's heart surgery, he kept himself busy working at odd jobs. Don enjoyed his family, especially when his grandchildren and great grandchildren were born. He also had a special dog, Penny, who accompanied him everywhere and a horse named Dottie. He had recently joined the Winneshiek County Saddle Club. Don also liked to go fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 nephews, Rodney Schnuelle and Grant Koopman. Surviving are his wife, Karen, his children, Cindy L (Jim) Neftzger of Fayette, IA, Greg A. (Darla) Schnuelle of Ossian, Joanie K. Gordon and Ronnie D. (Lacey) Schnuelle, all of Castalia, and Darin D. Schnuelle of New York City; 5 grandchildren, Jamie (Laurie) Smith, Chena Schnuelle, Dacia Schnuelle, Kohl Schnuelle and Kenadee Schnuelle; 2 great grandchildren, Mason and Peyton Smith; one sister, Judy (Arvin) Koopman of Dalton, WI; 4 brothers, Eddie (Betty) Schnuelle, Raymond (Lois) Schnuelle, Alan (Judy) Schnuelle and Clinton (Bev) Schnuelle, all of Castalia, and many nieces and nephews.
