Description	:	Donald L. Johnson, 96, of Minden, formerly of rural Upland passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Bethany Home in Minden. Memorial services were held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Minden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Peter Choi officiating. Donald was born on January 25, 1925 in Upland, Nebraska to Falk and Mathilda (Hansen) Johnson. He grew up in the Upland area and graduated from Upland High School. On August 14, 1945, he was united in marriage to Gwendolyn L. Schroder and to this union, five children were born: Leanna, Karen, Cheryl, Michael, and Shirley. The family made their home near Upland where Don farmed for many years. He was a member of the Upland and Minden United Methodist Church. Don and Gwen enjoyed square dancing, and were members of the Prairie Squares Dance Club. He enjoyed farming and gardening, but most of all, his family. Don also enjoyed playing cards. He never knew a stranger, was a good cook, loved animals, traveling, and had a great sense of humor. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Michael Johnson of Lincoln; daughters, Leanna Warner of Minden, Karen (Alan) Alberts of Hildreth, Cheryl Philbeck of Grand Island, and Shirley (Doug) Fellers of Minden; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ardyce Cronin of Sacramento, CA; sister-in-law, Marion Johnson of Minden; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Ray, Clarence, and Ernest; sisters, Leona, Sophie, and Ruby; granddaughter, Randi; and great-granddaughter, Sara.
