Description	:	Donald Lloyd Andersen, the son of Herluff Holmes and Beulah Christina (Nelson) Andersen, was born at Aurora, Neb., on March 29, 1933 and died in Aurora, Neb., on May 25, 2011, at the age of 78. Donald attended Dist. 56, Dist. 89, Marquette Elementary and went on to graduate from Marquette High School in 1951. During the summer of 1952, he worked stacking hay in Wyoming. Donald attended Dist. 56, Dist. 89, Marquette Elementary and went on to graduate from Marquette High School in 1951. During the summer of 1952, he worked stacking hay in Wyoming. Don returned home in the fall to help with the corn harvest. Don entered the U.S. Army February 1953 was stationed at Camp Breckenridge, Kent. He then was sent to Fort Richardson in Alaska, where he served in the Heavy Mortar 53rd Infantry Regiment. Don was a PFC and in March 1955 went to Fort Collins, Colo., where he received a medical discharge. He returned home to help his dad farm. On May 29, 1955, was when Don met his future wife, Doris Heiden. After they were married on Jan. 13, 1957, they lived on the farm north of Aurora where Donalyn and Douglas grew up. Dorlene joined the family on the place they now reside. He farmed until retirement. Don was a member of the American Legion in Aurora, where he had served as Chaplain and Commander. He was a past member of First Lutheran Church in Aurora where he had served as an elder, treasurer and president. One of his favorite things to do was riding his Gold Wing motorcycle. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Robert Crawford. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris of Aurora; son, Doug (Keiko) Andersen of Marquette; two daughters, Donalyn (Peter) Katt of Lincoln and Dorlene Andersen of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Daniel, Sapphire and Crystal; sister, Betty Crawford of Muscatine, Iowa and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Merle and Betty Heiden.
