Description	:	Donald Louis "Don" Wegener, 77, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, January 27, 2012, at the Lexington Regional Health Center. Don was born March 21, 1934, at Cornlea, Nebraska to Henry & Cecelia (Fraundorfer) Wegener. Don was a graduate of Platte Center High School. He proudly served his country in The United States Army. He then returned home and married Rita Greisen on August 13, 1960, at Platte Center, Nebraska. Four children were blessed to the marriage: Debra, Michael, Randall & Christopher. Read More	Donald Louis "Don" Wegener, 77, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, January 27, 2012, at the Lexington Regional Health Center. Don was born March 21, 1934, at Cornlea, Nebraska to Henry & Cecelia (Fraundorfer) Wegener. Don was a graduate of Platte Center High School. He proudly served his country in The United States Army. He then returned home and married Rita Greisen on August 13, 1960, at Platte Center, Nebraska. Four children were blessed to the marriage: Debra, Michael, Randall & Christopher. Don's early working years were spent farming in Platte Center. The family left Platte Center and moved to Lexington, where Don would work for the Harris Lab and then went on to Simplot soil builders in Cozad. Following his time at Simplot, Don found is calling and would spend the next twenty seven years painting. He also mowed lawns with his children helping in the summer time. Don enjoyed life, he enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, landscaping and he also did some woodworking. He loved to tinker around the house and was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker and Notre Dame Football fan. Don had a collection of hats and Die-Cast Antique Cars. Family gatherings were very important to Don and they always found time for a good card game. Don was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington. Survivors are: wife Rita Wegener of Lexington, Nebraska; Sons: Michael Wegener of Lexington, Nebraska Randall and wife Catherine Wegener of Rainbow, California Christopher and wife Erin Wegener of Fremont, Nebraska; daughter: Debra and husband Scott Macaluso of Fremont, Nebraska; sisters: Marcella Greisen of Columbus, Nebraska Thelma and husband Matthew Shumaker of Platte Center, Nebraska; Grandchildren: Trevor, Connor and Cole Macaluso; Natalia, Jade, and Cooper Wegener Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Don was preceded in death by parents, Brother-In-Law Phillip Greisen and two nephews.
