He was born August 30, 1937 in Arion, Iowa, son of the late Louis Meeves and Loretta (Schiltz) Meeves. Don grew up in Arion, Iowa. He graduated from Missouri Valley High School where he enjoyed playing sports especially baseball and football. Read More	Obituary Dateline-Stratham, NH Donald L. Meeves "Don", 84, passed away on October 20, 2021 at the Carriage Hill Assisted Living in Madbury, NH after a period of declining health. He was born August 30, 1937 in Arion, Iowa, son of the late Louis Meeves and Loretta (Schiltz) Meeves. Don grew up in Arion, Iowa. He graduated from Missouri Valley High School where he enjoyed playing sports especially baseball and football. After graduating from high school, he immediately enlisted into the United States Air Force serving from 1955-1963 as a radio operator. Then in 1963 he joined the United States Navy also working as a radio operator serving 12 years until 1975 when he reached and earned full retirement. While in the Navy, he married the love of his life, Ruth Carey in 1969. They had a son and a few years later moved to Stratham, NH where he has been ever since. Don was then employed and worked in various capacities at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 20 years earning a second retirement. With all his many years as a radio operator it was no surprise that his favorite hobby was using the ham radio. He also enjoyed bird watching, watching sports on the television and going to local minor league sporting events. Don was also quite talented at fixing things and was always there to offer help to his son for around the home projects. Sadly, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Ruth Meeves on June 23, 2018 and a sister, Patricia Meeves. Don is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Suzanne Meeves, granddaughter, Noelle Meeves, brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Patricia Meeves, brother, Allan Meeves and several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at the Maple Lane Cemetery, Stratham, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the NH Audubon Society, 84 Silk Farm Rd., Concord, NH 03301 or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
