Carson was born Jan. 14, 1909, at Wolsey to Ethel M. and Earl B. Carson. He was graduated from Wolsey High School and attended Huron College. He and Conrad Newton owned a recreation center from 1932-33 in Wolsey after which he drove truck for Harold Wharton and later drove the school bus. He worked for the Gran Wharton recreation center which he later purchased and added a bowling alley. He sold his business and made arrangements to open the Carson Lockers before entering the Armed Forces in 1943. Following his discharge in 1945 he operated the Carson Lockers until his retirement in 1965. He also owned and operated a grocery store in Battle Lake, Minn., 1949-50. He married Hazel Shirley Dec. 26, 1934, at Parker. Carson was a member and manager of the Wolsey independent baseball team. Until his health failed he was active in community activities, including managing the American Legion baseball team, a member of United Presbyterian Church, past commander of American Legion Hershmann-Gordon Post 59, past worshipful master of Masonic Lodge 152 and past patron of the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors are his wife, Hazel; four daughters, Mrs. Sherrill (Carol) Spencer, Redfield, Mrs. William (Mary Ethel) Houck, Wolsey, Mrs. Larry (Connie Lou) Fuller, Armour, Mrs. James (Linda Sue) Hager, Billings, Mont.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Ethel M. Carson, Wolsey; one brother Marvin, Huron; three sisters, Mrs. William (Evelyn) Huhrt, Murdo, Mrs. Alfred (Helen) Langbehn, Wolsey, Mrs. Marvin (Margaret) Scheibe, Des Moines; Wash.
