Read More	Donald M. Drum (May 15, 1925 - September 9, 2012) Donald M. Drum, 87, of rural Westphalia, Kansas, passed away early Sunday, September 09, 2012, at the Coffey County Hospital in Burlington. He was born May 15, 1925, at Westphalia, one of the eleven children of William and Margaret (Mechnig) Drum. He attended Glenwood Rural School and on April 24, 1944, he entered the United States Army. He served during World War II in Scotland, England, France, Belgium, and Germany with the 126th Evacuation Hospital and then as Platoon Sergeant with the 683rd Medical Clearing Company at Camp Bowie, Texas. Upon his discharge on April 22, 1946, he was awarded the European, African, Middle Eastern Theater Service Ribbon with one Campaign Star, the American Theater Service Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of Congdon-Kepler Post #38, American Legion, Burlington, and Post #6397, V.F.W., Garnett. He then returned home and on August 9, 1948, he and Mary Agnes Duethman were married at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Westphalia. Don worked construction and farmed and raised livestock. In 1957 he became an auctioneer and was active in this profession for more than 50 years. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Westphalia and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Westphalia Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harold, Leon, Zeno, and Bill Drum; and three sisters, Margaret Ressler, Helen Hughes, and Thelma Doran. He leaves, Mary, his wife of more than sixty-four years, of the home; a brother, Jerry Drum, Hemet, California; two sisters, Dorothy Andrews, Tonganoxie, Kansas, and Mildred Hawley, Burbank, California; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, September 13, 2012, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Westphalia. Burial will follow in St. Teresa Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 P.M. Wednesday at the church with visitation following at 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or St. Teresa Catholic Church and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
