Donald Melvin Olson was born November 27, 1936, at Volga, South Dakota, to Henry and Mabel Isabel (Pickering) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. He attended country school, and graduated from Volga High School in 1955. Donald was a farmer all his life. He enjoyed woodworking and travel. Survivors include cousins and friends. Donnie had a wide variety of interests, including, wood working, restoring toy tractors, collecting stamps and coins, and attending auction sales which led to more collections and more projects. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe, and was always interested in visiting with family and friends. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and served as president of the Volga Jaycees.
