He was born in Manchester, January 31, 1934, son of the late Russell L. and Arcelia M. (Jolly) Crawford, and was a lifelong resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of Friendship Lodge No. 145 A.F. & A.M., the VFW Post 2046, a past commander of VFW Post 241, and a member of Orange Lodge No. 117 and the Washington Social Club. Besides his wife, Mr. Crawford is survived by two sons, Robert R. Crawford of Manchester, William J. Crawford and his wife, Cynthia Crawford of Manchester; a daughter, Sherry L. Porritt and her husband, Barry Porritt of Dunedin, FL; a brother, Russell L. Crawford and his wife, Marion Crawford of Manchester; four grandchildren, Cynthia, Tyler, Jenna and Melody; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 28, 10 a.m., at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial, with military honors, will be in East Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call TODAY, Aug. 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
