Description	:	Donald R. "Don" Matousek, of St. Paul, Nebraska, died unexpectedly, Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at his home. Don was born on June 17, 1931, on the family farm northeast of St. Paul, near Cushing, Nebraska the son of Albert F. and Helen M. (Lukasewski) Matousek. Don was united in marriage to Shirley A. Anderson on May 22, 1954, at St. Paul, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on Sept. 4, 2010. Don was born on June 17, 1931, on the family farm northeast of St. Paul, near Cushing, Nebraska the son of Albert F. and Helen M. (Lukasewski) Matousek. Don was united in marriage to Shirley A. Anderson on May 22, 1954, at St. Paul, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on Sept. 4, 2010. Don is survived by: son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Chris Matousek of Overland Park, Kansas; sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Jim Hurt of Kearney, Nebraska; brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Cindy Matousek of York, Nebraska; special friend, Donna Jensen of St. Paul, Nebraska and a host of family and friends. Don received his early education at Cushing (NE.) School, District No. 33 and 27 Howard County, Nebraska rural schools and was a 1949 graduate of St. Paul (NE.) High School. He then went to work for Bob Nowak Propane Company, St. Paul, Nebraska. Don served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from April 1951 to Dec. 1953. After his discharge he returned St. Paul, Nebraska. Don and Shirley first lived in St. Paul, Nebraska where he continued to work for Bob Nowak, until moving to Albion, Nebraska in 1955. He then worked for Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company until his retirement in 1995. The couple then moved to Grand Island, Nebraska until returning to St. Paul, Nebraska in 1999. Don was an active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, St. Paul, Nebraska where he served as a Deacon, Worship assistant and usher. He was also a member of Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119, St. Paul, Nebraska and had been active in the Albion (NE.) VFW Post for many years. He also served as a security policeman at Albion (NE.) High School activities. Don loved his family and thoroughly enjoyed family reunions and get togethers. He also enjoyed playing cards, having a beer and loved to visit! Don was preceded in death by: parents; wife, Shirley A. Matousek and infant brother, Daniel Paul Matousek. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, St. Paul, Nebraska, with graveside military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119, St. Paul, Nebraska.
