Description	:	ABILENE -- Donald R. Sims, 74, of Abilene, died Tuesday (Oct. 26, 1999) at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. He was the father of Jack Sims of Newton. He was born March 11, 1925, in Oakley to Fred and Hattie (Porter) Sims. He married Pauline Zey Aug. 27, 1943. She survives of the home. He moved to Abilene as a child and attended Abilene schools. Read More	ABILENE -- Donald R. Sims, 74, of Abilene, died Tuesday (Oct. 26, 1999) at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. He was the father of Jack Sims of Newton. He was born March 11, 1925, in Oakley to Fred and Hattie (Porter) Sims. He married Pauline Zey Aug. 27, 1943. She survives of the home. He moved to Abilene as a child and attended Abilene schools. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the Navy in the Pacific Theater. In 1951, he founded and operated Abilene Termite and Pest Control, operating it for 48 years. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Abilene Elks Club. Other survivors include: two daughters, Donita Fitch of Boise, Idaho, and Beth Schasteen of St. Louis, Mo.; four other sons, Steve Sims of Powell, Wyo., Tom Sims of Salina, Dan Sims of Abilene and Mike Sims of Leavenworth; three sisters, Bernice Belew of Oceanside, Calif., Dorothy Coleman of Abilene and Vernadel Freeman of Vista, Calif.; four brothers, Dean Sims and Kenneth Sims, both of Abilene, Morris Sims of Carlsbad, Calif., and Myron Sims of Hemet, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Ted Sims; one sister, Gladys Sims; and two brothers, Estell Sims and Bruce Sims. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Abilene with Father Randy Weber officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors. Parish rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Thursday at Danner Funeral Home in Abilene. Memorials have been established with St. Andrew's school, Hospice of Dickinson County or Heart Fund in care of the funeral home
