Description	:	Don was born in the Hospital in Lynch, NE on July 30, 1948 to Willard and Norma (Pritchett) Emme. He grew up at Sunshine Bottom near Lynch where Don, Howard Grimm and little brother Butch, who called themselves “River Rats”, enjoyed playing along the banks of the Missouri River. He graduated from Lynch High School in 1967 and then attended Denver Automotive Institute in Denver, CO. He grew up at Sunshine Bottom near Lynch where Don, Howard Grimm and little brother Butch, who called themselves “River Rats”, enjoyed playing along the banks of the Missouri River. He graduated from Lynch High School in 1967 and then attended Denver Automotive Institute in Denver, CO. He married his “Sugar Bear” Margene Metschke on November 8, 1969 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Chambers, NE. After living in Chambers for a short time, they moved to O’Neill where they lived until his passing. While in O’Neill, Don worked as an equipment operator for Ed Prouty and as a mechanic for the Holt County roads department. In 1976, Don, with a truck and a loader, started Don Emme Construction which he owned and operated until his health forced him to retire in 2004. After he retired, Don turned his passion to metal detecting and John Deere show tractors. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church and the “2 Cylinder Tractor Club”. He and Margene enjoyed traveling around the country in their camper, finding new metal detecting spots. Don also enjoyed stopping at cafés and making new friends in every town.
