Description	:	DANBURY, NC ~ Mr. Donald R. Smith, age 64, of Danbury, died Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. He was born June 10, 1947 to the late Doise & Macie Smith. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Danbury VFW Post# 5953 and the Disabled Veterans of Mount Airy. Read More	DANBURY, NC ~ Mr. Donald R. Smith, age 64, of Danbury, died Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. He was born June 10, 1947 to the late Doise & Macie Smith. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Danbury VFW Post# 5953 and the Disabled Veterans of Mount Airy. Mr. Smith was a retired farmer, diesel mechanic and antique collector. He worked for Allied Systems and owned Smiths Garage and was of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by his wife, Linda Marsh Smith of the home; daughters: Donna Smith Martin & husband Grant and Jeannie Smith Sherrill; grandchildren: Stacie Elizabeth Martin and Justin Lee Sherrill; sister: Mary Ann Smith Tilley & husband Jimmy; brother: Rocky Smith & wife Susan; nieces: Wendy & Danielle; nephews: Jeff, Michael & Caleb and great-nieces & nephews: Alisha, Joshua, Christie, Will, Aaliyah & Noah. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Jean Anderson. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Howell-Nelson Funeral Chapel of Pilot Mountain conducted by Rev. Tracey Collins with interment to follow at Hard Bank Cemetery with full military rites to be performed by VFW Post# 2019 of Mount Airy & Post# 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Howell-Nelson Funeral Service of Pilot Mountain. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Stokes FFA Scholarship Fund, 1350 North Stokes School Road Danbury, NC 27016. (Winston-Salem Journal (NC) ~ September 17, 2011)
