HOPKINS, Donald Ray, 75, of Grand River, Iowa, died at the Osceola Nursing & Rehab Center in Osceola, Iowa Tuesday, March 17, 2009. Don lived most all of his life in Decatur County, Iowa. He was in the United States Army from 1953-1955 serving in Korea. On October 2, 1964 he married Kathryn Elaine Crangle at Murray, Iowa. They were blessed with four children, Ryan, Darin, Aaron, and Donnel. Don farmed around Grand River all of his adult life. He raised corn, soybeans, cattle, and hogs. Farming was his life; he took over the farm from his parents. He spent all of his time taking care of his land and equipment. Preceding him in death were his parents and infant brother, Hoyle. Survivors include his wife Kathy Hopkins of Grand River; children: Ryan Hopkins and Bruce Remmey of West Des Moines; Darin and Cathy Hopkins of Des Moines; Aaron and Sheryl Hopkins of Carlisle; and Donnel and Charles Adams of Mt. Ayr; nine grandchildren: Brittany and Anna Hopkins, Kristina Devon, Cole, and Tyler Hopkins, and Eian, Kaley and Kelsey Adams; brothers and sisters: Carl and Lela Hopkins of New Virginia, Mildred Hutcheson, Marjorie and Marvin Black, and Arletta Palmer, all of Murray, and Harry and Billie Hopkins of Grand River; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa April 1, 2009
