He was born September 1, 1954 in Mount Airy, NC to the late Jessie Lawrence and Dorothy Irene Hawks Edwards of Cana, VA. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by one sister, Mazie Crotts; three brothers, Glenn Edwards, Berlin Paul Edwards and Richard Edwards.
