Description	:	Donald Ray "Shorty" Bilyeu, 73, of Sterling, passed away Sunday, March 29,2009, in Greeley at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at North Colorado Medical Center. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.Thursday, April 2, at Chaney Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 3, at the Berean Church, with the Rev.Dale Wesley officiating.Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery. Shorty was born June 7, 1935, in Omaha, Neb., to Glen and Clara (Urich) Bilyeu. They moved to Sterling from Omaha when he was 10 years old. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1953. Shorty worked at Flint Rig prior to starting at Marsau's in August 159. He worked at Marsau's until the time of his death, just short of 50 years. On June 21, 1959, he married LaVonne Wagner in Sterling. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. His hobbies were golf, bowling, playing pool, wood working, trips to Blackhawk and watching various sports on TV. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Shorty was also a life member of the Sterling Elks Lodge No. 1336. He is survived by his wife, LaVonne of Sterling; daughter, Debbie March and husband Kip of Greeley; son, Scott Bilyeu and wife Crystal of Altus, Okla.; grandchildren, Caitlyn, Dylan and Holdyn, all of Altus; sister, Lois Donoho and husband Dennis of Sterling; sister-in law, Lorna Nelson of Sterling; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-and mother-in-law, Lorin and Leola Wagner; sister, Bonnie Burnworth; and brothers-in- law, Bill Burnworth, Stanley Nelson and LaVern Wagner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado, Inc.
