Description	:	Donald R. Beck, Sr., 71, of Uncle Sam's Lane, Wakefield, an Amtrol employee and a baker before he retired, died Monday at South County Hospital. He was the husband of the late Doris E. (DeVoll) Martin-Beck. A son of the late Albert W. and Madeline Palmer Beck, he had settled in South Kingstown in 1977. Mr. Beck had worked for Amtrol Company of West Warwick for six years before retiring in 1985, and had previously been a baker for Korb's Bakery, in Pawtucket. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was the husband of the late Doris E. (DeVoll) Martin-Beck. A son of the late Albert W. and Madeline Palmer Beck, he had settled in South Kingstown in 1977. Mr. Beck had worked for Amtrol Company of West Warwick for six years before retiring in 1985, and had previously been a baker for Korb's Bakery, in Pawtucket. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Beck had been a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Kingston since 1978, where he had served as a member on the board trustees and as an usher. He was also a member and president of the United Methodist Men. He was active with the Boy Scouts, Pack 3. He was a member of Slocum Grange 36, the State Grange and the National Grange, and a past member of the Independent Order of Foresters. He leaves a son, Donald R. Beck, Jr. of Tiverton; two daughters, Deborah A. Harkins of Silver Springs, CO and Linda R. Beck of Cranston; a stepson, Brian P. Martin of Apollo Beach, FL; a stepdaughter, Joyce Holland of Narragansett; two brothers, Kenneth H. Beck of San Diego, CA and Ernest R. Beck of Warwick; a companion, Diane Helfrich of Pawtucket; 16 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Robert E. Beck and Doris M. Moon. The funeral was held Thursday in Christ United Methodist Church, Kingston. Burial will be today at 11 am in Elmgrove Cemetery, Tower Hill Rd., North Kingstown.
