Description	:	Donald "Don" Ross Walder, age 78, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Watertown with Father Paul Rutten officiating. Music will be furnished by soloists, Marie Coon and Bill Keller accompanied by Danielle Holmquist-Holda. Visitation will be from 4:30-7:00 p.m., with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Donald Ross Walder was born July 27, 1937 to Max and Gladyce (Sour) Walder in Watertown, South Dakota. He attended school in Watertown and Hayti, graduating from Hayti High School in 1955. While in high school he played basketball and was on the 1954 Hayti Redbirds State Championship team. He then attended college at SDSU and Huron College. On August 25, 1956 he married Patricia "Pat" Jean Opdahl at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Henry. Prior to his retirement, Don worked at Maytag Corporation and most recently was director of Watertown Area Transit. Don's greatest joy was spending time with his kids and grandkids and he always said he was the richest man in the world. What made him rich was his family, all 82 of them. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles, Lions and Watertown Quarterback Club. Don loved sports and was an avid Packer's fan and a loyal Watertown Arrows fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling, gardening and lawnwork, and also enjoyed story telling. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Pat; his children, Jeff (Monica) Walder of Lake Andes, SD, Jodi (Wayne) Price of Minot, ND, Mike Walder and special friend, Judy Ziebart of Watertown, SD, Shawn (Rocky) Ward, Doug (Denise) Walder of Watertown, SD, Jackie (Rick) Bull of Sioux Falls, SD, Mark (Marles) Walder, Stephanie Van Well and Robb (Mary) Walder of Watertown, SD; 21 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 step great-grandchildren; one brother, David (Barb) Walder of Brookings, SD; three sisters-in-law, Cokey Johnson of Henry, SD, Lydell Walder of Hayti, SD, and Sharon Paulsen of Pierre, SD; two brothers-in-law, Greg (Dixie) Opdahl of Hayti, SD, and Scott (Mary) Opdahl of Woodland, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dick Walder, a daughter-in-law, Shelly Walder, a son-in-law, Dion Van Well, his in-laws, Howard and Aggie Opdahl, two brothers-in-law, Lanny Paulsen and Jim Johnson, a sister-in-law, Renee Anderson Chaplin, and a nephew, Steve Walder. - Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel
