Description	:	son of Harry & Marie Aukes Rottink Veteran of Korean War Donald Edward Rottink, age 82, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born on July 9, 1931, in New Hartford, Iowa, the son of Harry and Marie (Aukes) Rottink. He graduated from Allison High School in 1949. Donald enlisted in the United States Navy on January 9, 1951, and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on November 15, 1954. He graduated from Allison High School in 1949. Donald enlisted in the United States Navy on January 9, 1951, and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on November 15, 1954. Donald was united in marriage with Johanna Wolters on December 21, 1955, in Grundy Center, Iowa. To this union three children were born. They started farming in the Allison area following their marriage and moved to Clarksville in 1963. The couple later divorced. Donald was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church in rural Clarksville, where he served as a past Trustee. He was a life-long member of the Clarksville AMVET'S as well. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, tending to his flowers and having many pets over the years. Donald was known to have a "green thumb" and the ability to grow anything. He tended to many flower beds and loved gardening as well, often sharing his produce with family. While farming was his primary occupation, he truly loved what he did and took pride in his livestock and crops. Donald died on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Greg Rottink; one granddaughter, Taylor Rottink; one brother, Paul Rottink; one sister and brother-in-law, Marian (Duane G.) Miller. Donald is survived by his three children, Linda (Robert) Cmelik of Waterloo, Iowa, Dennis (Dawn) Rottink of Clarksville, Iowa, Calvin (Connie) Rottink of Clarksville, Iowa; five grandchildren, Nathan (Jenica) Cmelik, Amanda (Jeremy) Thompson, Kylie (fiancé Gavin Steege) Rottink, Kolton Rottink and Matt (Danielle) Rottink; six great-grandchildren; one brother, David (Shirley) Rottink of Clarksville, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Mamie Rottink of Allison, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Unity Presbyterian Church with burial in Lynwood Cemetery, both in Clarksville. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville, (319)278-4245 and will continue for one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday.
