The memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 22, 11:00 AM, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dusty Sprague, officiating. A private family burial will be held at Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the church or the American Cancer Society. Don was born May 22, 1944 in Columbus, Nebraska, to Wayne and Helen (Guenther) Coffey. He attended rural Platte County District 9 grade school and he graduated from Columbus High School in 1962. He married Marilyn Heule on October 10, 1964, at First United Methodist Church in Columbus. They lived in Grand Island for a short time where Don worked for Chief Industries. The couple returned to the Columbus area where Don worked for Soil Movers, Henke Manufacturing and Behlen's, where he worked for 31 years. They lived on Brandenburgh Lakes for 11 years, and they moved to their present home east of Columbus in 1997. Don was a past member of Columbus Volunteer Fire Department where he served as chief for 3 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, gardening, feeding his birds and squirrels, and helping his neighbor work with cattle. Don is survived by Wife: Marilyn Coffey of Columbus, NE Daughter: Kimberly (Terry) Loftin of Fort Collins, CO Son: Troy (Judy) Coffey of Columbus, NE Grandchildren: Steven Coffey, Jeffrey Coffey, Ryan Coffey and Megan Coffey, all of Columbus, NE Brother: Roger (Jan) Coffey of Omaha, NE Brother: Doug (Claudia) Coffey of Enid, OK He is preceded in death by Parents: Wayne and Helen Coffey Sister: Patricia Coffey
