Casteel quietly passed away September 10, 2003. Don was born in Burlington, ND, on November 14th, 1918, and moved to Chinook, MT at a young age. Don moved his family to Tacoma, WA in 1957. He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Cleo; son, Gary; daughter, Betty; 4 grandchildren, Pamela Stofie (Robert), Kimberly McElwain (Richard), Jon Swanson (Dominique) and Steve Casteel; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Graduate of Chinook High School, 1936. Worked as a Meat Cutter for over 46 years in his own grocery store, Buttreys in Montana and Safeway in Washington. Don and Cleo's marriage has been described as "the perfect partnership." Don and Cleo worked and played side by side, giving endless energy and time to the South Tacoma Eagles and making new friends on their daily walk through the mall. His spirit and energy will live on in all of us. We wish to give many thanks to Group Health Hospice Care and all the care givers over the last five years. The funeral will be held at Piper-Morley-Mellinger Funeral Home, 5436 S. Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA, on Sunday, September 14, 2003 at 2 PM. Viewing will be held from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM.
