Don passed away February 8, following a long battle with cancer. He graduated from St. Ludger Academy in Creighton in 1949. On Dec. 30, 1957 he was united in marriage to Virginia McManigal. Five children were born to them. Buerman, a left handed curve ball pitcher, signed with the New York Yankees after high school. However, he was inducted into the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.
