Donna Janette McCarty was born on March 17, 1935 in Jackson County, Iowa, to Bernie and Bernice Iva (Keister) McCarty. She grew up in the Canton area and attended Jackson County country schools. She married Levi Arterberry, Jr. on July 29, 1951 in Kirksville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1977. Donna Janette McCarty was born on March 17, 1935 in Jackson County, Iowa, to Bernie and Bernice Iva (Keister) McCarty. She grew up in the Canton area and attended Jackson County country schools. She married Levi Arterberry, Jr. on July 29, 1951 in Kirksville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1977. Donna was a homemaker and also had worked at Clinton Engines, Mississippi Valley, Fareway, and for Pamida at the courtesy counter for 19 years. After retirement she had worked part-time for the Department of Human Services office. Donna was family oriented and her life centered around her family. Those left to honor Donna's memory include her children, Deb Jenkins of Maquoketa, IA, Bonnie (Clint) Robertson of Mabank, TX, David (Dee Gee) Arterberry of Maquoketa, IA, Gary (Lori) Arterberry of Bunceton, MO, and Bernie (Dani Wells) Arterberry of Maquoketa, IA; a sister Berna (Lane) Sagers of Maquoketa, IA; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, and 13 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 children Ronald, Robert and Sandra, a brother Marvin McCarty, and 2 grandchildren Matthew Arterberry and Jake Arterberry. A public graveside service and burial celebrating Donna's life will be held at 9:30 A.M., Thursday, May 29, 2014, from the Hickory Grove Cemetery, rural Monmouth, Iowa. There is no visitation. All friends and family are invited to a luncheon immediately following at the Eagles Club in Maquoketa. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Donna J. Arterberry memorial fund.
