Donna Jean (Bordewyk) DenBesten was born on October 29, 1939 in Boise, Idaho to John and Clara (Star) Bordewyk. From Boise she moved to Nemo, SD then to Springfield, SD before settling in Douglas County in 1952. She attended grade school in Springfield and graduated from Corsica High School in 1957. Donna Jean (Bordewyk) DenBesten was born on October 29, 1939 in Boise, Idaho to John and Clara (Star) Bordewyk. From Boise she moved to Nemo, SD then to Springfield, SD before settling in Douglas County in 1952. She attended grade school in Springfield and graduated from Corsica High School in 1957. On December 27, 1957 Donna was united in marriage to Dennis DenBesten at the Harrison First Reformed Church. After marrying, they moved to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for a short time while Denny was in the service. Once his service was finished they moved back to Platte, SD where they made their life together. She worked for Kredit Ford as a bookkeeper for 15 years until they adopted a daughter in December of 1974. She then enjoyed her life as a homemaker and mother, while also keeping books 26 years for the Platte Ambulance. In her spare time, Donna enjoyed photography, china painting, attending Coffee Break Bible Study and serving on the Cemetery Fence Committee. Donna was an active member of the Platte Christian Reformed Church. Donna's battle with cancer began long ago with her first diagnosis in 1966 and then again in1991. She remained cancer free until 2009 when the third diagnosis came. Since that time she bravely fought the good fight, never giving up and clinging strongly to her never ending faith in the Lord. Donna was preceded in death by: her husband, Dennis DenBesten (1995); her parents, John and Clara Bordewyk; her mother and father-in-law, Case and Grace DenBesten; and a sister-in-law, Carol Bordewyk.
