She lived in Scribner from 1956-79. She served on the Scribner Public School Board and was involved in numerous community activities. She and her husband, Mel, operated Mel's Bar during her years in Scribner. She resided in Omaha from 1979-94. During that time, she primarily managed and later owned the Brass Knocker Lounge. Survivors include: a daughter, Dawn (Mrs. Ron) Cech of Schuyler; two sons, Elmer (and wife, Jane) Armstrong of Scribner and Ken (and wife, Celeste) Armstrong of Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and brothers and sisters. Riverside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Driftwood in Blair. A memorial has been established to the American Diabetes Association.
