Description	:	Donna Jean Scheil was born to Joseph Vodicka Jr. and Agnes Zelenka Vodicka on January 14, 1962, at Geneva. She passed away on April 12, 1993, after a length battle with cancer at the University of Nebraska hospital, Omaha, at the age of 31 years 2 months and 29 days. Read More	Donna Jean Scheil was born to Joseph Vodicka Jr. and Agnes Zelenka Vodicka on January 14, 1962, at Geneva. She passed away on April 12, 1993, after a length battle with cancer at the University of Nebraska hospital, Omaha, at the age of 31 years 2 months and 29 days. She was one of six children in the family. She attended Fairmont Public Schools, graduating in May of 1980. She was married to Mark Allen Scheil of Fairmont on August 1, 1980, and to them one son was born. She and son, Derek, lived in Fairmont until May of 1981, when they went to Germany to join Mark, who was stationed in the Army there. In November of 1981, they were transferred to Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Denver, Co. They lived in Northglenn, Co., until August of 1983, at which time they moved back to Fairmont. Donna was employed at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva from 1983 until 1987, starting as a nursing assistant, later getting her Care Staff Member Certificate. In 1987, she took employment at the Fairview Manor in Fairmont as a Care Staff Member. In September of 1989, Donna enrolled and attended Southeast Community College-Beatrice, graduating at the top of her class with a 4.0 average in December, 1991, with an LPN degree. Donna was still an employee at Fairview Manor at the time of her death. During her leisure hours, she enjoyed crocheting, camping, gardening, flowers, playing cards, cooking and trying new recipes, reading playing basketball and volleyball. She took special pride and joy in attending all of her son's activities. Donna had a special love for animals, and her dog, Fluff, and cats, Sarah, Misty, PeeWee and Missy, had an individual place in her life. She enjoyed her work and took pride and care in providing that exceptional care that is needed in helping the elderly. With her own health problems, she came to know that special touch that made a patient more comfortable. Donna was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Vodicka of Fairmont; and by her sister-in-law, Linda Vodicka of Strang. She is survived by her husband, Mark; son Derek of Fairmont; by her mother, Agnes Vodicka of Fairmont; sisters, Darlene Daws and husband, Willard of Fairmont and Mrs. Doris Mason and husband, Don of Grand Island; brothers, Darrell Vodicka of Strang, Larry Vodicka, Gary and wife, Kathy Vodicka of Fairmont; and by many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are father and mother-in-law, Charlie and Sandy Scheil of Fairmont; brothers-in-law, Douglas Scheil of Lincoln, Michael Scheil and wife, Tami of Campbell and Daniel Scheil and wife, Jenny of Long Beach, Ca. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church in Fairmont, at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 16, with the Rev. Tony Woodward officiating. Mrs. Nancy Jo Galusha provided organ music for the prelude and postlude. Casket bearers were Doug Scheil, Mike Scheil, Daniel Scheil, Chris Sluka, Dan Garrigan and Steve Becker.
