Description	:	Donna Louise Willis, 88, of Grand Island died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Bickford Cottage. Memorial services will at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Pastors Michael Patzloff and Matt Fowler will officiate. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Richland Cemetery. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora is in charge of the arrangements. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Willis was born May 29, 1925 in Atchison, Kan., to Frank Martin and Clara May (Jones) Voorhees. On May 28, 1943, she married Arcle L. Willis Jr. in Atchison, Kan. He preceded her in death. Survivors of the immediate family include a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Deryl Nissen of Marquette, and two sons and daughter-in-law, Lonny and Pam Willis of Kokomo, Ind.; and Danny and Jeri Willis of Aurora. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and their spouses, Lance Willis and his wife, Lisa Millspaugh, of Greenwood, Ind., Laura and Chris Donnell of Kokomo, Ind., Derek and Amy Nissen of Aurora, Dustin and Amy Nissen of Marquette, Micah and Sara Willis of Aurora, Heidi and Ethan Vasko of Kearney and Andrew and Taylor Willis of Aurora; 13 great-grandchildren and her Bickford Cottage "family." After Donna and Arcle were married, Arcle went into active duty with the U.S. Army Ranger Battalion and Donna stayed in Atchison where she was employed by Western Union during World War II; she later worked for J.C. Penney. After the war, they lived in Pierre, S.D. In 1963 they moved to Marquette where Donna worked in the long-term care unit at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. In 1975, they moved to Columbus, where Donna worked as a hostess for the Holiday Inn restaurant. In 1977, they moved to Nigeria, while Arcle worked as the chief master mechanic on a construction site. They were evacuated from the country due to political unrest and then made Grand Island their home, where Donna was active in the Newcomers group, and volunteered at St. Francis Medical Center and the Salvation Army. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church while living in Grand Island and at the Aurora United Methodist church after moving to Aurora. After her husband's death, Donna moved to East Park Villa in Aurora for a few years before returning to Grand Island to make Bickford Cottage her home. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rosella Quinn of Blackwell, Okla.; and an infant sister.
