Description	:	CENTRAL CITY - Donna Mae Steinke, 80, of Central City, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln, surrounded by family. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Central City, with Msgr. Nelson Newman officiating. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery. Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Steinke was born May 18, 1932, in Clarks to Walter A. and Josephine (Shemek) Kluck. Survivors of the immediate family include a son and daughter-in-law, District Judge Robert and Chris Steinke of Columbus; a grandson, Matthew Torczon of Pender; a great-grandchild, Hayley Torczon, and two sisters, Karen Dunham of Central City and Mary Pollard of Grand Island. She grew up in Clarks and graduated from Clarks High School in 1950. Donna then received her teaching certificate from Nebraska Central College in Central City, and then taught elementary school in rural Merrick County. On Oct. 28, 1952, she was united in marriage to Emil R. Steinke at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Clarks. They made their home in Central City. For over 30 years, Donna served as a dental assistant in Central City, first for Dr. F.P. McAleer, then for Dr. H.F. Greving, and finally for Dr. John Ahlschwede. Donna especially enjoyed working with young children who seemed to harbor a degree of fear when they had to visit the dentist. Donna was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Central City, and was active in church activities throughout the years. Donna loved her family, and enjoyed family gatherings. Donna enjoyed her flowers and rose bed, and always looked forward to a garden each spring. For many years, Donna served as a volunteer at Long Term Care in Central City. She was fond of working with the elderly and disabled. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Emil, on June 3, 2002; her parents, and a brother, Robert Kluck. Donna was kind and generous, and will be missed. Trust in eternity. Published in The Grand Island Independent on September 27, 2012
