Description	:	Donnavon C. "Don" Boden, 77, of Sterling, died Friday night, April 11, 2014 at the Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams. He was born on August 19, 1936 at rural Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961. He married Jackie (Church) Wiens on June 11, 1981. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Sterling and Harm-Sangen Post #140 of the American Legion also of Sterling. He enjoyed Nebraska baseball and Red Sox baseball. He was born on August 19, 1936 at rural Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961. He married Jackie (Church) Wiens on June 11, 1981. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Sterling and Harm-Sangen Post #140 of the American Legion also of Sterling. He enjoyed Nebraska baseball and Red Sox baseball. Survivors include his wife, Jackie of Sterling; one son, Jeffery Boden of Denver, CO; one daughter, Alicia Coulson of Lincoln; one step-daughter, Pam Pella and husband Tony of Hickman; four granddaughters, Devon Coulson and Allison, Avery and Autumn Pella; one brother, Merle Boden and wife Janice of Loveland, CO; three sisters, Jan Bouc and husband Ken of Lincoln, Ardis Wentz and husband Ken of Sterling and Mary Waddington of Phoenix, AZ; one brother-in-law, Ben Schole of Hooper; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Trientje "Tena" (Kelle) Boden, an infant brother, one nephew, sister, Linda Sue Schole and brother, LeeRoy. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Sterling with Pastor Jason Wolter officiating. Military flag presentation will be conducted by Harm-Sangen Post #140 of the Sterling American Legion. Private inurnment of the cremains will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery of rural Sterling. A memorial has been established to Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Sterling, Sterling American Legion Post #140 and Gold Crest Retirement Center of Adams with the church elders in charge. Cremation has taken place and there will be no viewing or visitation. Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling is in charge of the arrangements.
