Donnie was born in Grand Forks, ND on April 25, 1950 to Cameron and Bertha "Dottie" Sondreal. He grew up and attended school in Grand Forks where he graduated from Red River in 1969. At the age of 18, Donnie volunteered to join the US Army. After returning home, he became a man of many talents. He was a hard worker in many trades within the construction industry. He enjoyed being with friends and family and would always make everyone laugh with a story or joke. He was a stranger to no one as he was a friend to everyone. Donnie and Bonnie Reimer were united in marriage on January 27th, 1973. Together they raised three children: Bobbie, Christina and Dustin. He resided in Thompson, ND He found enjoyment in restoring and cruising in his classic cars. He was also a proud six year survivor of pancreatic cancer who lived his life to the fullest. He always had a positive outlook on his treatment and met every doctor or nurse with a smile. Donnie was an exceptional man and has left an everlasting impression on all those who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Sondreal (Reimer) of Thompson, ND; his three children: Bobbie Sondreal of St. Michael, MN, Christina (Michael) Purfeerst of Savage, MN and Dustin (Crystal) Sondreal of Hanover, MN; his grandchildren: Camryn Sondreal, Natalie, Makayla and Charles Purfeerst; his siblings: Beverly (Bob) Heverly, James Sondreal, Gary (Carol) Sondreal, Diane (Dale) Hilde and Lyle Sondreal. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents Cameron and Bertha "Dottie" Sondreal. He will always share a special place in our hearts and we will never forget him. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 am, on Saturday, October 1st, at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the 11 am service. Memorials may be sent to 324 6th Street, Thompson ND ----------------------------------------------------
