Description	:	Donovan G. Twite, age 78, died on Monday, March 7, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in De Smet, South Dakota. Donovan was born on July 25, 1937, in Roberts County, South Dakota, to Lewis and Ida Twite. He attended country school in Roberts County and graduated from Veblen High School. He graduated from Augustana College, obtained a Masters degree from Northern State University, and a Specialist degree at the University of South Dakota. Twite, age 78, died on Monday, March 7, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in De Smet, South Dakota. Donovan was born on July 25, 1937, in Roberts County, South Dakota, to Lewis and Ida Twite. He attended country school in Roberts County and graduated from Veblen High School. He graduated from Augustana College, obtained a Masters degree from Northern State University, and a Specialist degree at the University of South Dakota. He served in the National Guard from 1960-1966. Donovan married Evelyn Ulmer on August 21, 1960. They lived in several places before making their home in De Smet in 1978 with their five children. Throughout his career he was a band director, a guidance counselor and a principal. For thirty years he served as a Superintendent, 21 of those years in De Smet. He retired in 1999 and they remained living in De Smet. Donovan and Evelyn spent a lot of time side by side building and remodeling houses and working in their yard. Donovan enjoyed camping with his family and building and fixing things for his grandkids. He also enjoyed building muzzle loader rifles and shooting them in state and national competitions. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Evelyn of De Smet; sons, Steve (Stacy) of White River, SD; Stuart of De Smet, SD; Jeff (Sheila) of Summerset, SD; Jay (Joyce) of Tea, SD; daughter Leah (Nolan) of Alexandria, MN; 12 grandchildren; and one brother, Lyle Twite and his wife Alda of Cloquet, MN; and many other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, father and mother-in-law, one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law.
