Dora “Beth” Elizabeth Schamp was born September 21, 1927, in Huron, SD to Joseph and Dorothy (Walcher) Schamp. Beth graduated from Bonilla High School in Bonilla, SD. She married Eugene “Pete” Fliehe on September 9, 1949 and they spent their lives farming and raising three children together near Tulare, SD. Family was the most important part of Beth’s life and she was a committed farm wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the backbone of the farm as she raised the children, assisted in the fields, tended to her flowers and vegetable garden and provided a loving, warm and inviting home to all; family and friends alike. Beth and Pete enjoyed camping, playing cards and dominoes, and dancing. She loved windmills, the colors of spring, watching the birds feed from the feeders in the yard, crocheting, embroidery, and crafting, especially Christmas decorations. Her favorite season was fall when they would welcome family and hunters for pheasant season. She looked forward to providing delicious meals to those gathered around her table. Throughout her life, Beth took an active role in both her children and grandchildren’s lives. She found great joy in keeping up with everyone’s activities and accomplishments. In her younger years, Beth enjoyed a Bible Study Group and was a proud life member of the Wessington American Legion Auxiliary. Beth is survived by her children: Randy (Christine) Fliehe of Tulare; Laurie (Gary) Olivier of Pierre, SD; and Darwin (Denise) Fliehe of Redfield; 14 grandchildren: Kristi, Kelly (Amber), Mandy (Steve), Brent (Megan), Dustin (Brandi), Lance (Rachel), Brandon, April, Colton (Mackenzie), Makenna, Ben (Catrina), Dillon, Macy, and Deven as well as 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Darrel (Sharon) Schamp of Great Falls, MT; sister Melba (Cam) Gallager of Huron; brother-in-law Don Fritzsche of Huron; sister-in-law Lenore Schamp of Sioux Falls, SD and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Pete; grandson Jason Fliehe; brothers: John (Ann) Schamp and Russell Schamp and sisters: Lyda (George) Kuhns and Olive “Juanita” Fritzsche.
