Description	:	Mrs. Dora. Irene (Harris) Smith, daughter of James W. and Caroline (Segrist) Harris, was born March 19, 1899 on a farm in Post Township, Allamakee County, north of Postville, Iowa. She died Tuesday, December 5, 1995 at Veteran Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. Dora attended the Lybrand School and graduated from Postville High School in 1916. She taught in the country schools.. On March 27, 1918 Dora Harris and Lester D. Smith were married at the home of her parents. To this union, two sons were born, Rodney and Keith. Irene (Harris) Smith, daughter of James W. and Caroline (Segrist) Harris, was born March 19, 1899 on a farm in Post Township, Allamakee County, north of Postville, Iowa. She died Tuesday, December 5, 1995 at Veteran Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. Dora attended the Lybrand School and graduated from Postville High School in 1916. She taught in the country schools.. On March 27, 1918 Dora Harris and Lester D. Smith were married at the home of her parents. To this union, two sons were born, Rodney and Keith. The couple farmed north of Postville all of their lives. Mrs. Smith moved to a house in Postville following the death of her husband. Mrs. Smith was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Postville where she taught Sunday School for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester D. Smith who died in 1981; a grandson, Bruce Smith; a granddaughter, Connie Gelo; a great-granddaughter, Brenda Krambeer; three brothers, Obert Harris, Martin Harris and Fred Harris and four sisters, Mae (Mrs. Joe Evans), Ethel (Mrs. Elmer Fast), Florence (Mrs. Ed Barnes) and Ella (Mrs. Fred Lawson). Surviving are two sons, Rodney 1. Smith and his wife, Josephine and Keith M. Smith and his wife Rose Marie, all of Postville, 11 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 18 great great-grandchildren and a sister, Lucille Johnson of Mabel, Minn., and many other relatives, friends and neighbors. A private family service was held December 7, 1995 at Schutte Funeral Service in Postville with Rev. Gary Catterson officiated. Kim Schutte sang two solos, accompanied by Beverly Bacon. Honorary casket bearers were Margaret D. Krambeer, Melody L. Nims, Marilyn J. Lenth, Marsha S. Landsgard, Mavis R. Chevalier, Virginia S. Timmerman, Connie Gelo, and Michelle J. Snyder. Casket bearers were David L. Smith, Phil lip A. Smith, Donald O. Smith, Rodney A. Livingood, Douglas R. Smith and Mike Timmerman. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Interment was at Postville Cemetery. .
