Description	:	Dora L. (McFerran) DeBerg, 89, of Watertown, South Dakota, passed away February 12, 2012 at Jenkins Living Center. Dora Louise McFerran was born August 17, 1922 in Codington County, South Dakota to John and Ella Christine (Nelson) McFerran. She grew up in Codington County and attended grade school at Happy Home Rural School #9. During her high school years, she lived with R. Dora Louise McFerran was born August 17, 1922 in Codington County, South Dakota to John and Ella Christine (Nelson) McFerran. She grew up in Codington County and attended grade school at Happy Home Rural School #9. During her high school years, she lived with R. G. and Mabel Williams cleaning and cooking for her room and board. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1940. Following graduation, she helped her father on the home farm. Dora met William "Bud" DeBerg in Sunday School and Bible School at the Methodist Church in Kampeska Village. They married on February 8, 1942 at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown. Dora and Bud farmed their entire lives until retiring and moving to Watertown in 1997. Dora was a dedicated wife, mother, and was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren. Dora was a life-time member of Grace Lutheran Church. She belonged to Joanna Circle and had served as president of the GLCW, was very active in other church committees, and was an annual lefse maker for the Nordefest. Dora also presided over the Mother-Daughter Banquets. She was a life-long member of Dorcus Sewing Circle. She and her fellow circle members made over 600 quilts yearly, shipping them to foreign countries and providing warmth and comfort to many in our United States. Dora was a Charter Member of the Chattering Chicks, and also served on the FHA County Committee. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ella McFerran; her husband, Bud; her sisters, Vera Bevers, Esther Nye, Ruth Thomas, and her brother, Harley McFerran. Survivors are Dora's five children: Richard (JoAnn) DeBerg of Henry, SD; David (Jan) DeBerg of Hazel, SD; Colleen (Tony) O'Horo of Morrison, IL; Jane Ham of Rapid City, SD; and Kevin (Gigi) DeBerg of Springfield, MN; her sister, Harriet (Jim) Bevers; brother-in-law, Lee Bevers; sister-in-law, Reneta McFerran; her 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., February 15, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown with Pastor Steve Lauricella officiating; Marcia Jelsma, as organist; and Brian Bak, as soloist. Visitation will be 5-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Greg DeBerg, Troy DeBerg, Todd Randall, Justin DeBerg, Darren DeBerg, Matthew O'Horo, Michael O'Horo, Brady Ham, Jakob DeBerg, and Kolton DeBerg. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Memorials may be designated to Hospice of Prairie Lakes, Joy Ranch, or Jenkins Living Center.
