Miss Dora Maude “Aunt Maude” Rochester, age 101, formerly of B St., Jonesville, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at White Oak Estates in Spartanburg. Miss Rochester was born in Jonesville, August 26, 1914, a daughter of the late John Wesley Rochester and Margaret Carolina Martin Rochester. She was a 1932 graduate of Jonesville High School and was the oldest member of Jonesville Baptist Church. Miss Dora Maude “Aunt Maude” Rochester, age 101, formerly of B St., Jonesville, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at White Oak Estates in Spartanburg. Miss Rochester was born in Jonesville, August 26, 1914, a daughter of the late John Wesley Rochester and Margaret Carolina Martin Rochester. She was a 1932 graduate of Jonesville High School and was the oldest member of Jonesville Baptist Church. Mrs. Rochester served her church as a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years and also as a leader of the WMU. She worked in textiles for 30 years and retired as Clerk for the town of Jonesville after 18 years. Mrs. Rochester also managed the Jonesville Senior Citizens group for many years. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by four brothers, Furman, Carroll, Ezell and Frank Rochester and two sisters, Eunice Rochester and Mrs. Lillie McBride. Mrs. Rochester is survived by five generations of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to expresses a special “Thank You” to the staff and nurses of White Oak Estates and Hospice Care of SC for their love, care and concern of Miss Rochester. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Jonesville Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Scott Cannon, Rev. Michael John Rochester and Rev. Ralph Brown. Burial will be at Fairforest Baptist Church. Active pallbearers will be Mark White, Marty White, Brent Rochester, Brady Rochester, Derrill Eaves, and Benjamin Rochester. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:45 PM Tuesday at the church prior to the services. Memorials may be made to Jonesville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 279, Jonesville SC 29353.
