SUMMERS LOCATED IN PHILLIPS COUNTY IN 1887 Final rites were held Tuesday afternoon in Holyoke for Mrs. Dora O. Summers, a resident of Phillips County since 1887, who died* at her home in Holyoke at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Death was due to heart ailment and complications of advanced age, with which she had suffered several weeks. Service was held at the Colver Bros Funeral Home with Rev. H.L. Taylor, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, in charge. Burial was made in the Holyoke Cemetery. The rites at the cemetery were under direction of the Holyoke Chapter No. 105 Order of the Eastern Star, of which Mrs. Summers was a member. Pallbearers were Sherman E. Walrod, J.W. O'Neal, B.A. Stephenson, F.M. Gillis, J.A. Holmes and Ervin Einspahr. The out of town relatives who attended the funeral were Carl Mason of Sioux City, Iowa, E.G. Summers of Colorado Springs, Evans B. Mason of Kit Carson, and Mrs. Maude Tracy and daughter, Loreta, of Denver. Dora Olive Mason, daughter of Washington T. and Mahala Mason, was born October 3, 1863 near Fairmont, West Virginia. When she was 14 years old, she moved with her parents to Missouri, locating near Memmphis. She received her education in the Missouri schools. The marriage of Dora Olive Mason to Martin V. Summers was solemnized near Memphis, Missouri, February 6, 1887. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Summers moved to Colorado and located on a farm near Holyoke. Mr. Summers died in April, 1918. She was preceded in death, also, by three brothers and one sister. Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Maude Tracy of Denver and Mrs. J. Grant Israel of Memphis, Missouri; two brothers, Evans B. Mason of Kit Carson and Perry O. Mason of Berkeley, California; and many other relatives. One niece, Mrs. Nellie M. Wilson, resides in Holyoke. Deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church. *Date of Death: 19 Mar 1939
