FRANK NAVRATIL ANSWERS SUMMONS Mrs. Frank Navratil, an old-time resident of Ulysses and community, passed away at the family home here in Ulysses on Tuesday afternoon, November 13 after an illness of some duration. Mrs. Navratil had been afflicted with an enlarged spleen for a long period of time and her death, while not coming as distinct surprise, saddens the community. Mr. and Mrs. Navratil had lived on a farm east of Ulysses for a number of years before retiring and coming to Ulysses about eight years ago to spend their declining years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning from the Catholic church at 10 A.M. B. J. Morey will the mortician in charge. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. '''''''''''' Ulysses Dispatch, November 22, 1934, p. 1, col. 3 OBITUARY Dora Slosar was born in Bohemia on June 24, 1873 and died at her home in Ulysses, Tuesday, November 13, 1934. When nineteen years old came to America where on March 2nd, 1897 she was married to Frank Navratil at David City, Nebraska. Three sons blessed their union. They are: Albert and George and Frank jr., who with their father survive her. Other relatives are one sister, Mrs. John Sloup, of near Ulysses, Nebraska; two brothers, Joseph Slosar of Bruno, Nebraska and Micheal Slosar of near Ulysses. There is one grand-child together with many sincere friends who deeply regret her passing away. After the removal of the family from David City many years ago, they removed to Ames, Nebraska later going to Dwight where they remained for a time, after which they lived in Seward and Butler counties, later coming to Ulysses about 16 years ago and where they had lived continuously since. Mrs. Navratil had been in poor health for some time past, suffering from spleen and heart trouble, but had kept up andf about the house daily until within a few days of her going. Thus has gone from our midst one who had the esteem of all who knew her, a kind wife, loving mother, splendid neighbor and staunch friend has answered the summons to "Come up Higher." Her's had been a life of usefulness and devotion to her family who all will long for a touch of a vanished hand and sigh for a voice that is still." Mrs. Navratil was a devout Catholic and never missed attendance at mass as long as health would permit. She was the possessor of a genial personality which won for her many friends all of whom unite in tendering condolences to the sorrowing loved ones left behind. Her funeral services were held at the church of the Immaculate Conception at ten o'clock Thursday morning, November 15th, when a Requiem High Mass was celebrated for the repose of her soul. The Rev. Father Loughran being the celebrant and Rev. John Pastourek delivering the sermon which was very impressive and which will long be remembered by the many old friends and neighbors assembled to pay their last respects to one who was in every way worthy. The pall-bearers were George Navratil, Albert Navratil and Frank Navratil jr., sons of the deceased and Joe Sloup, John Sloup jr., Mike Slosar jr., nephews of the deceased. B. J. Morey of Ulysses, was the mortician in charge. Interment was made in the St. Mary's cemetery, near town. "Eternal Rest Grant Unto Her, O Lord, and May Light Perpetual Shine Upon Her." E. B.
