Eszlinger, daughter of Willie and Martha (Schweigert) Eszlinger was born January 1, 1941 at Eureka, SD. She grew up in Danzig, ND and attended country school. Her family moved to Ashley in 1952 and she graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1959. For several years, Dorene worked as a waitress at The Ashley Café and at Ashley Super Valu. Dorene was united in marriage to Adolph D. Rueb on October 9, 1959 in Bethel Assembly of God Church in Ashley. She and Adolph bought Ashley Super Valu from Eugene and Frieda Bertsch on May 9, 1966. In 1994 they built their new store and over the years Adolph and Dorene together ran that store side by side with their sons helping. Their son Kirk and his wife, Terri, eventually took over operations and in 2011, they purchased the store from Dorene. Dorene enjoyed attending local sporting events of her children’s and grandchildren. Getting together with friends and family and playing cards and various other games was always something she looked forward too. Getting away and camping at Hart Ranch was relaxing and time well spent. Dorene was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church and was very active. Also a member of Sunshine Club and Ashley Senior Center. Grateful for having shared Dorene’s life are her sons, Kirk (Terri) Rueb of Ashley and Byron (Kim) Rueb of Fargo; five grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, A.J., Rachel and Tucker; brother, Terry (Bonnie) Eszlinger of Las Vegas, NV and sister, Ramona Kirschenmann of Jamestown. Preceding Dorene in death were her parents and husband, Adolph. Honorary Casketbearers will be Ashley Super Valu Past and Present Employees and Finger Therapy Ladies. Casketbearers will be Deon Vilhauer, Leo Vilhauer, Korey Kirschenmann, Kevin Kirschenmann, Steve Delzer and Delbert Eszlinger. Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
